John and I went to the recent bi-annual meeting of the Association of Natural Burial Grounds. A lot of dedicated people with a lot of knowledge and experience. It was held at Sheepdrove organic farm in Wiltshire, an amazing diverse project with an eco-conference centre – gorgeous buildings – and B & B. This is a picture of the entrance to their new natural burial ground, which is quite small, just 4.5 acres – enough space for 2,250 burial plots. We’re calculating we want to have enough land to be still doing burials in 100 years time or preferably longer: then when all the burial places are filled, the land will continue to be used as a retreat site and nature reserve into the future.
